Shelby County’s Fite Road project is a 1.395-mile realignment of Fite Road from S.R. 3 (US Highway 51) to Woodstock Boulevard. The construction includes grading, drainage, gravel, paving, retaining walls, and a new bridge over the Railroad. The planning has been in the works for over 20 years and will alleviate local traffic congestion due to heavy train traffic with the new bridge. Also, with its four-lane retrofit to the existing Fite Road at Woodstock Boulevard, the Memphis International Raceway and other local industries will have the much-needed capacity for special events and large truck traffic.
